“MiG” photographic association
The photographic association “MiG” was founded in March, 2007. The name of the association literally means “My iz Gor’kogo”, i.e. “We are from Gorky” (as Nizhny Novgorod was named as “Gorky” within the period from 1932 to 1990).
Goals and objectives:
- promotion of the Russian photography development;
- conservation of national photographic heritage;
- contribution to the development of photography skills and creativity of professional and amateur photographers of Nizhny Novgorod;
- involvement of the youth into the art of photography.
The photographic association unites young, active and promising photographers who participate in regional, national and international festivals and contests. They meet once a week and perform creative tasks. Once a year an exhibition is arranged summarizing the best works of its members.
“MiG” collections have been shown in Nizhny Novgorod region, in Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Saint-Petersburg, Ul’yanovsk, Yaroslavl’, Omsk, Perm, as well as in Serbia (2008), Germany (2009), France (2009, 2010).
The instructor of “MiG” is Aleksey TARASOV, art photographer and head of display department of the museum.
